109 Taichung County Water Quality Sensor Joint Test Application Project

Absrtact
At present, the domestic water pollution inspection and control method is mainly based on human onsite inspections. For those factories which are suspected to illicitly discharging industrial wastewater, it is often required 24 hours standby for inspections. This creates heavy burden to inspectors. We need a more efficient way to break through this challenge. The Environmental Protection Agency has developed a smart water quality monitoring system which incorporates the IoT interactive information system to automate the monitoring of illicit discharge. This system is successfully transferred to the Environmental Protection Bureaus of local counties and cities in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of illegal waste water discharge prevention. In 109, the city completed the establishment of smart monitoring system at 30 pollution hot spots. The project has completed 8 events by leveraging the system and provided 2 promotional events and 1 system handover training.
